It was about 4 inches in diameter and walked in an odd, slow manner (sort of leg by leg). It must have been a pet that was released into the wild and we stumbled upon it. Unbelievable!! Anyway, I'm petrified of these beasts! :-) MarilynAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8527944689184796366.post-33249425470789469082009-10-26T09:35:54.032-07:002009-10-26T09:35:54.032-07:00Seems like most folks either hate them or love the...Seems like most folks either hate them or love them. But lets face it, tarantulas are just plain neat. A school teacher friend used to introduce the topic of spiders to the class by letting a pet tarantula climb up his arm saying, "Contrary to popular belief, tarantulas rarely bite...." then he'd let out a tremendous howl and clutch his arm. The kids loved it.

Zac, I don't have any primary literature on tarantulas, but will see what I can find out re your question.Camera Trap Codgerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11052159376463794204noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8527944689184796366.post-31207306867034004332009-10-26T09:06:55.205-07:002009-10-26T09:06:55.205-07:00Do you know of any primary literature on the taran...Do you know of any primary literature on the tarantula migrations? Back in about May/June here in southern New Mexico, there were tarantulas everywhere. Someone told me that about every ten years there is a massive migration. Sounds dubious to me.

ZacAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8527944689184796366.post-78852111051370748442009-10-26T07:32:02.124-07:002009-10-26T07:32:02.124-07:00OMG, I hate,hate,hate spiders!
