I don't want to make light of this lady's misfortune.
I am sure it was scary as hell being hounded by two young cougars, but it would have been a lot worse if the cats were a few months older.
They are still honing their skills as predators.
Fortunately, the appearance of three dogs changed the cats' minds.
Let's hope they find their mom, and forget about romps in the 'burbs.
They probably just wanted a playmate! Getting a lot of these reports here in the bay area these days. Had you seen this news report about a cougar walking down a main street in San Mateo in the middle of the day?
ReplyDeleteI stayed up late to watch that one on TV. That cat may be less dangerous than a lot of other late night streetwalkers in that town.
ReplyDeleteINteresting news reports.. I'm glad that woman knew to back away slowly rather than run.
ReplyDeleteHa! Are we talking urban cougars, or the, um, more professional variety? :)
ReplyDeleteBtw - do you think these incursions are the result of winter food pressures, or expansion of the local cougar population? (and I'm talking about the 4-legged variety this time!).
