Burmese trail muggers





From a camera trappers perspective Burmese villagers fall into three categories.

Dream walkers don't notice or don't care about the camera -- they just want to get home with their loads of bamboo or firewood. 

Poachers steal the camera because they don't want to be caught poaching.

And Burmese trail muggers strike poses hoping they'll be discovered by Hollywood.

    I have about 40 students from Burma. They are Karen refugees. I was quick to see if any of your muggers were mine.

    Very neat. The Karens were used to living close to nature. You are lucky to know them, and vice versa.

    I would remove that camera as soon as possible so it won't be stolen.

    Not to worry. I just set the camera in San Luis Obispo County.
