A number of raptors drink, bathe, and hunt in the same pools where the bears do their thing.
Not everyday, like Steller and scrub jays, but now and then.
I have a hunch that the birds seen here use several different pools on different creeks.
Screech owls were by far the most frequent users.
This video covers about 5 months of clips from several pools.
Great videos.
ReplyDeleteLove it! You know I have a soft spot for birds, especially owls!
ReplyDeleteYes, the owls! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteHey Codge

Thanks, you all. I wasn't sure about the id of the saw whet, but studied the photos and compared them with images in Peeters' book -- "Owls of California and the West". I've heard them calling here, so I am pretty sure about the id -- it ain't no screech owl, that I know.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff as always Codge. You're becoming quite the video master.
ReplyDeleteI think the owl besides the screech owl is a flammulated owl. Look at a bird book and see what you think.
ReplyDeleteI really can't tell for sure, Eileen, but it's really a cool find if it's a flammulated owl. Thanks for your comment.
