Culvert cat

Fred showed quite a bit of interest in this culvert last week, so I set a cam there.

It's my first photo of a culvert cat.

I love this picture. Spirocat!

Cats have a way of making cool things even cooler.

Indeed. Notice the expression on its face on discovering that it's personal vortex has been discovered.

The face expression is great. He doesn't look pleased.

"He" is a she...black and yellow coloring both on a cat is virtually always an indication of a female. I think the statistics are something like 1 in 700 is male, and the male will be infertile.

Not that it makes a huge difference...but if said cat has taken up relatively permanent residence, it could be interesting to keep track of.

One of the most artistic camera-trap shots ive ever seen...also one of the funniest.

Thanks troops, and thanks Suek, you are a learned woman.

Thanks suek. That is an interesting tidbit.

One of those useless things one tends to remember! Helps if you have pick of the litter and either _do_ or _don't_ want a female, though.

The other thing in this cat is the face. Toms get a really different looking face as they become adults and older - very blocky. Females and neutered males seem to retain the triangular shape without regard to age. This cat has a feminine face. I know...that one is strictly personal interpretation...!
